Hello my name is Josh Baum. I am a Computer Animation graduate of Ringling College of Art and Design. I currently live in Los Angeles working in the animation industry.
My fascination with animation started as a little boy while watching The Iron Giant with my family. I remember sitting on the couch amazed that a “cartoon” of a metallic giant robot could show such emotions and movement. I must have watched that movie 50 times – and I am still in awe of it. As an older boy and as a young teenager, the message that Hogarth tells the Iron Giant, “you are who you choose to be,” resonated with me; that one could always chose a path to do good even at the expense of personal sacrifice or hardship. It’s about doing the right thing. The animation coupled with the story has stayed with me ever since my first viewing of The Iron Giant as a little boy and motivates me to be who I choose to be – an Animator.
